His father, both of his uncles and brothers were car painters. At the age of eleven, he joined a metalworking firm as a workshop apprentice, and when he was 17 he became a full-time <strong>assistant panel-beater<\/strong> at the <strong>Stabilimenti Farina<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In late 1946, he was duly established in via Cigliano, in <strong>Turin<\/strong>, where <strong>Carrozzeria Vignale<\/strong> was born. His two brothers were also involved in the new enterprise.<br \/>\nItaly was undergoing a period of <strong>economic recovery<\/strong>. It was a moment for new energies, new projects and implementations in the automobile industry too.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;13786&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; add_caption=&#8221;yes&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221;][vc_column_text]Carrozzeria Vignale started off their production with three special aerodynamic <strong>coup\u00e9s<\/strong> on behalf of<strong> Cisitalia<\/strong>. The next body they fitted was a second hand <strong>Fiat Topolino<\/strong>. An association that was to last only four years, and that collaboration of Vignale\/Ferrari, led to the production of about <strong>156 bodies<\/strong>. Alfredo Vignale collaborated with the bold designer <strong>Giovanni Michelotto<\/strong> and together they became car architects who were capable of combining liveliness and elegance. He was just the man to transform Michelotti\u2019s inspired hunches into concrete projects.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>first Ferrari<\/strong> to be built with a <strong>Vignale<\/strong> body was a type <strong>166 MM<\/strong> coup\u00e9 with chassis 0062M. He also \u201cdressed\u201d many American cars, such as the <strong>Cunningham C-3<\/strong>, <strong>Packard convertible<\/strong>, <strong>Cadillac Bill Frick special<\/strong>. The beautiful<strong> BMW 507 Convertible<\/strong>. The <strong>Triumph Italia<\/strong> 2000 Vignale coup\u00e9. He embarked on new challenges all the time, for example, the<strong> Aston Martin DB4<\/strong> for King Baudouin of Belgium. It was an estate car, based on a stock Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 that he built for Luigi Chinetti.<br \/>\nThe choice to have <strong>artisan production<\/strong> was the cause of a <strong>financial crisis<\/strong> in the late \u201960s.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;13792&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; add_caption=&#8221;yes&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221;][vc_column_text]<strong>De Tomaso<\/strong>, who at that time had already taken Ghia over, along with the Ford Motor Co., moved to <strong>purchase<\/strong> the struggling <strong>Carrozzeria Vignale<\/strong>. Unfortunately, when control of his company was about to pass to Ghia in <strong>1969<\/strong>, Alfredo Vignale met his death following a tragic <strong>car accident<\/strong>.
